In the Midas River barrel jumping minigame in Super Mario RPG, Mario travels down a river going diagonally across the screen. If we take a look at the map the game uses for the background, we see the river is a self-contained construct that loops back into itself both vertically and horizontally. Geometrically, this must mean the river is on a toroidal, or donut-shaped surface.
